Edificação mista de arquitectura militar e palácio, que combina diferentes estilos arquitectónicos, nomeadamente Gótico, Manuelino e Mudejar.
A sua construção foi iniciada nos finais do séc. XV, no reinado de D. João II, e terminada no princípio do séc. XVI, no reinado de D. Manuel I, tendo desde então sido alvo de trabalhos de recuperação e remodelação.
Está classificado como Monumento Nacional desde 1910.
Em 1993, foi restaurado e convertido numa das Pousadas de Portugal: a Pousada do Castelo de Alvito.
Castle / Inn
Combining different architectural styles, mainly Gothic, Manueline and Mudejar, it is a mix of military and palatial architecture. Built between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century, in the reigns of King João II and King Manuel I, it has been remodelled and restored since then.
It is classified as a National Monument since 1910.
In 1993, it was restored and converted into Pousada de Portugal.

Alvito Main Church (Our Lady of the Assumption)
Combining different architectural styles: Gothic, Manueline, Baroque, Renaissance and Mannerist, the Churchwas built between the end of the 13th century and the beginning of the 14th century, being remodelled and restored in the second quarter of the 16th century .
The inside stands out for the unique frescoes, two gilt carved wood altars and a valuable set of 17th century glazed tyles, mainly yellow over a white background.
It is classified as a National Monument since 1910.

Edificada nos finais do séc. XIII - inícios do séc. XIV, foi ampliada no segundo quartel do séc. XVI. Combina vários estilos arquitectónicos: Gótico, Manuelino, Barroco, Renascentista e Maneirista.
No interior destacam-se frescos de rara beleza, dois altares de talha dourada e um valioso conjunto de azulejos do séc. XVII, com predomínio do amarelo sobre fundo branco.
Está classificada como Monumento Nacional desde 1939.
